Getting started

Do I need an account to use Promofy?

No. Promofy works straight on your iPhone — no sign-up, no password, no login. You can open the app and start capturing ideas right away. The only sign-in involved is your existing Apple account, and that's only for the App Store and the optional Pro upgrade.

Which devices does Promofy run on?

Promofy is an app for iPhone and iPad. It isn't available on Android or the web. There's no Apple Watch app, CarPlay, or Home Screen widget at the moment — it's a focused iPhone and iPad app.

How much does Promofy cost?

Promofy is free to download from the App Store, with an optional Pro upgrade for the full experience. On the free tier you can try the core capture, organise and AI features within some limits; Pro unlocks more projects, campaigns and flyers. A Pro subscription is billed through your Apple account, and you can manage or cancel it any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

How do I get started?

Capture an idea, then organise it: create a project for the product you're promoting, add a campaign inside it, and build flyers within that campaign. From there you can polish the text with AI and copy it out to wherever you post.

How do I capture an idea?

Jot down a tagline or a rough note the moment it hits you — in line at the shop, walking the dog, wherever. The point is to get it out of your head and into Promofy before it slips away, so you can shape it into a promotion later.

Can I capture ideas by voice?

Yes. You can dictate a prompt or note with your voice instead of typing, which is handy when an idea strikes and you don't have time to type. It uses your iPhone's built-in speech recognition, so you'll be asked for microphone and speech-recognition permission the first time.

How do I keep my ideas organised?

Ideas live inside projects and campaigns. One product is one project; a campaign is a themed push within it; and flyers are the individual pieces of promotional content. That structure keeps everything for a promotion in one place instead of scattered in notes.

Projects, campaigns & Pro

What's the difference between a project, a campaign and a flyer?

A project is the product or brand you're promoting. A campaign is a specific promotion within that project. A flyer is one piece of content — a title, the promo text, hashtags and a link — that you create inside a campaign. Projects hold campaigns, and campaigns hold flyers.

What do I get with Pro versus the free version?

The free version lets you try Promofy with a limited number of projects, campaigns and flyers, plus a limited number of AI uses. Pro removes those limits so you can run as many projects, campaigns and flyers as you need. The exact limits and prices are shown on the upgrade screen in the app.

How do I manage or cancel my Pro subscription?

Your Pro subscription runs through your Apple account, so you manage it on your iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You can also restore a purchase there or from Promofy's upgrade screen if you switch to a new device.

AI-polished copy

How does the AI copy work?

Promofy can turn your rough notes into polished promotional text — taglines, captions, sales lines and product blurbs. You give it a starting point and it helps you draft and refine the wording, so you don't stare at a blank page.

Do I need my own OpenAI API key?

Not to get started — Promofy includes a limited number of AI uses so you can try it out. If you want to keep generating beyond that, you can add your own OpenAI API key in Settings; it's stored securely in your device's Keychain and used only for your own requests.

What gets sent to the AI service?

Only the content needed to write your copy — things like the flyer text, campaign name, hashtags, link and your prompt — is sent to OpenAI to generate a suggestion. Your projects aren't tied to any account, and no personal identity or login is sent, because Promofy doesn't have one.

Can I edit what the AI writes?

Always. The AI gives you a draft — you stay in control. Tweak the wording, regenerate it, or write it yourself; nothing is posted automatically. When you're happy, copy it out to wherever you publish.

Flyers & posting

What is a flyer in Promofy?

A flyer is one promotional piece — its title, the promo text, hashtags and a URL — kept inside a campaign. It's the unit you create, polish and reuse, so each promotion is a tidy set of flyers rather than loose notes.

How do I get my content out to social media?

Promofy copies your finished text to the clipboard so you can paste it straight into Instagram, LinkedIn, your newsletter, or wherever you post. It doesn't post on your behalf — you stay in control of what goes out and where.

Can I see what I've already posted?

Yes. The History tab keeps a log of the content you've copied out, with timestamps, so you can look back at what you used for a flyer and avoid repeating yourself.

Sync & your data

Does Promofy sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. If you're signed in to iCloud, Promofy syncs your projects, campaigns and flyers across your devices over iCloud (CloudKit) automatically — start on your iPhone and pick it up on your iPad. There's no separate Promofy account to set up.

How do I move my data to a new iPhone?

As long as you're signed in to the same iCloud account, your data syncs to the new device automatically once you install Promofy and open it — there's nothing to export or import by hand.

Is there a manual backup or export?

Promofy doesn't have a separate export or backup file — your safety net is iCloud sync. If iCloud is on, your work is kept in your own iCloud and restores automatically on a new device. If you want a copy of a flyer's text, you can copy it out from the app.

Privacy & permissions

What data does Promofy collect about me?

Your projects, campaigns and flyers stay on your device and in your own iCloud. Promofy doesn't ask you to create an account and doesn't collect a profile of you. Text you choose to polish is sent to OpenAI only to generate that suggestion.

Does Promofy track me or show ads?

No. There's no advertising and no behavioural tracking — no analytics SDKs following you around. The app doesn't use your location or read your contacts.

Why does Promofy ask for microphone access?

Microphone and speech-recognition access are used only when you choose to dictate an idea or prompt by voice. If you'd rather type, you can decline and use everything else as normal. You decide on each permission.
