TixVault: Ticket Vault & Diary
Answers to everyday questions
Here's how TixVault works day to day, from the import to the gate and the diary afterwards. If your question isn't answered below, send us an email — we're happy to help.
Getting started
When and where can I get TixVault?
TixVault is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later). The interface is in English; seat details use the Dutch stadium terms (vak, rij, stoel, ingang) that Dutch tickets print.
Do I need an account?
No niApps account. The app uses the iCloud account your phone is already signed in to, both for syncing your own devices and for sharing a vault. We never see your tickets.
Which tickets work?
Any ticket you have as a PDF or as an image: print-at-home PDFs from a venue, festival, club portal or resale site, and screenshots of a ticket with a barcode or QR code. TixVault reads the largest barcode it finds plus the printed text. If no barcode is found, the original is still stored so you can show it as it is.
Can I store a Ticketmaster or club-app ticket?
Not as a working gate pass. Tickets whose barcode refreshes every few seconds in the official app (Ticketmaster SafeTix, AXS Mobile ID and most official club apps) can't be stored by any other app — a screenshot of them doesn't scan at the gate. TixVault is for PDF and print-at-home tickets.
Importing tickets
How do I import a ticket?
Tap + on the Tickets tab and choose Import PDF ticket, Import from Photos or Paste from clipboard. TixVault scans the file on the device and opens Check the scan with everything it found.
My PDF has several tickets in it.
Each page with a barcode becomes its own ticket, and you confirm them one by one with Save & next. Tickets with the same title on the same day land on one event, so the four seats of a business PDF stay together.
What is the Check the scan screen?
Nothing enters the vault without you seeing it. The screen shows the event (type, title, competition or tour, date, venue), the seat (section, row, seat, entrance), a guest name and the barcode it found. Correct anything that was read wrong, pick the vault to save to, and tap Save.
The scan read the date or the seat wrong.
Reading is done on the device from the printed text, and ticket layouts differ. Fix the field on the confirm screen, or later: Edit on the event changes the type, title, date or venue for all its tickets, and Edit on a ticket changes its seat or guest.
Two scans ended up on different events.
Open the ticket and choose Move to another event: it lists the other events in the vault at the same date and time. The empty event stays so its report and photos are not lost; delete it from its own page if you don't need it.
At the gate
How do I show the ticket at the gate?
Open the event on the Tickets tab, tap the ticket, then Show ticket for the original or Show barcode (Show QR code) for just the code. The screen goes to full brightness and shows nothing else. Tap the cross to close, or swipe down on the barcode or a screenshot; the brightness returns to what it was.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The ticket, the barcode and the original file are stored on the device, and nothing is fetched when you open them. With airplane mode on, the barcode still shows.
What if no barcode was found?
The original PDF or screenshot stays attached to the ticket, and Show ticket displays it exactly as it was, with pinch to zoom. A steward can scan the code from the original.
Can I send a ticket to someone without the app?
Yes. On the ticket, Share PDF or Share ticket image hands the original to the share sheet as a real file, so AirDrop, Messages, Mail and Save to Files all work. Print sends it to an AirPrint printer.
Events, calendar & seats
How does the calendar work?
On the event, tap Add to calendar + reminder. TixVault creates an event in your default calendar with the venue as location and every seat, entrance and guest in the notes, with an alarm 90 minutes before the start. It also adds a reminder two hours before. iOS asks for calendar and reminders access the first time; the calendar access is write-only.
Which kinds of tickets can I keep?
Match, concert, festival, theatre and other. The type changes the wording (kickoff or start, stadium or venue, competition or tour), whether a result can be filled in afterwards, and how history is grouped: matches per season, everything else per year.
What is the guest field for?
Who is using the seat. The name shows on the event row and in the calendar notes, so a season-ticket holder sees at a glance which guest has which seat.
How do I delete a ticket or an event?
Swipe a ticket in the event's list, or swipe an event on the Tickets tab. Delete event on the event page removes it with all its tickets, report and photos. In a shared vault you can delete what your sharing permission allows; the owner can always delete everything.
Vaults & sharing
What is a vault?
A vault holds tickets and is the unit of sharing. Your first ticket creates one called My tickets; add more from the Vaults tab with +, for example Concerts for the family and a vault per season ticket. When you confirm a scan you pick which vault it goes to.
How do I share a vault?
Open the vault in the Vaults tab and tap Share this vault. Apple's sharing sheet sends an invitation by Messages or Mail; sharing is invite-only, and everyone you invite can view and add tickets. Manage sharing in the same place shows who is in and lets you remove someone or stop sharing.
I received an invitation. What do I do?
Install TixVault, open the link, and the vault appears under Shared with me in the Vaults tab while its tickets download from iCloud. From then on every ticket in it, including new ones, is on your phone and works offline at the gate.
What do invited people need?
An iPhone or iPad with TixVault, signed in to their own iCloud account. There is no Android or web version; someone without the app can still receive the original PDF through the share sheet.
Does it sync between my own devices?
Yes. Tickets, events, photos and vaults sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud account. Settings shows how many tickets, events and vaults are stored.
History & photos
Where do past events go?
Three hours after the start, an event moves from Tickets to History, grouped per season for matches (July to June) and per year for everything else. The ticket is still there and can still be shown.
How do I add a result, a report or photos?
Open the past event and tap Add result & report (matches) or Add report & photos. Enter the score, write how it was and add up to six photos at a time from your library.
What can I do with a photo?
Tap it to open the viewer: swipe between photos, pinch to zoom, share it as a JPEG, copy it, save it to Photos or delete it. Photos are stored with the event in your iCloud and shared with everyone in the vault.
Privacy
Where is my data stored?
On your device and in your own iCloud account. A shared vault lives in the owner's iCloud and syncs only to the people they invite. Delete the app and the data is gone from that device; the copy in your iCloud comes back when you reinstall.
Is my ticket uploaded to be read?
No. Barcodes and text are recognised on the device with Apple's Vision framework. The file never leaves your phone except through your own iCloud sync and the vaults you share.
Which permissions does TixVault ask for?
Calendar (write-only) and Reminders, only when you tap Add to calendar + reminder, and add-only access to Photos when you save a photo from the app. Importing from Photos or Files uses Apple's pickers, which need no permission at all.
What data does niApps collect?
None. There are no ads, no analytics and no servers of ours. Your tickets live in your iCloud, photos are stored with the event they belong to, and nothing about you is sent to niApps.
